Description
-
A view of the round tower of St Michael le Pole and a schoolhouse in the area of Chancery Lane/Ship Street, Dublin. Two headstones depicted in centre foreground, while in the foreground to the left, a man leaning on a stick looks towards the buildings.
The rectangular structure is a schoolhouse which was built on the site of an earlier church on the condition that the tower was not to be pulled down The tower was so badly damaged by a storm in 1775 that it had to be demolished the following year.
